Baltimore School deploys Aerohive Networks for Wi-Fi

Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) has deployed Aerohive’s controller less network solution.

The new solution will provide Wi-Fi access to over 110,000 students and 18,000 faculty across 174 schools while replacing Meru technology.

The third largest school in Maryland can support its mobile learning objectives, while empowering students and teachers to unleash their creativity in the classroom.

Prior to Aerohive BCPS District’s Wi-Fi network was limited in coverage and was not extended to all classrooms.

With Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) to schools for educators and administrators, the need of robust, secure and scalable network that can handle high traffic has increased.

The BCPS was earlier relied on Meru technology and selected Aerohive Networks for its ease of use, scalability and flexibility after evaluating networking vendors like Aruba, Meru and Aerohive.

In addition, BCPS has deployed more than 10,000 Aerohive access points (AP), including the AP121, AP170, AP330, AP350, AP370 and AP230 across all campuses and administrative buildings.

Small team can quickly and easily make changes across the entire network from one console, in one location, with Aerohive’s HiveManager Virtual Appliance.

“Aerohive far exceeded what we saw from the competition, and we received outstanding support from both engineering and management to ensure we would not only meet our current goals, but establish a platform for mobility to take us into the future,” said Gregory Vukov, director of network support services, Baltimore County Public Schools.

Few days ago, Aerohive launched HiveManager Next Generation cloud management platform for mobile first organizations which is ideal for education customers because of its onboarding, streamlined user experience and simplified troubleshooting.

Last year in April, Palm Beach County School District deployed Aerohive wireless networking solution to support classroom digital learning.
