Xilinx appoints Victor Peng as the next CEO

Xilinx CEO Victor Peng
Semiconductor products company Xilinx has appointed Victor Peng, who joined the company in 2008, as president and chief executive officer.

Victor Peng, who’s currently working as COO, will become the fourth CEO in Xilinx’s history.

“Xilinx is in a rare position of strength and is poised to capitalize on the next shift in computing. By focusing on delivering unique value to new areas as well as our traditional markets, I plan to accelerate the company’s growth,” Victor Peng said.

Victor Peng, since joining the company in 2008, has spearheaded strategy and technical shifts across the company’s portfolio of products and services, resulting in three consecutive generations of core product leadership and technology breakthroughs in integration and programming.

Most recently, Victor Peng served as chief operating officer and was appointed as a member of the board of directors in October 2017.

Before joining Xilinx, Victor Peng served as corporate vice president of the graphics products group (GPG) silicon engineering at AMD, where he also served as a key leader in AMD’s central silicon engineering team supporting graphics, console game products, CPU chipset and consumer business units.

Victor Peng earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a master’s in electrical engineering from Cornell University.

Victor Peng, 57, succeeds Moshe Gavrielov, 63, who will step down as CEO, as part of a previously announced CEO succession plan. Moshe Gavrielov’s decision to step down from his operational role will bring to a close a career of 40 years in semiconductor and software related companies.
