“We estimate the Enterprise and SOHO markets to maintain modest growth over the next five years,” said Ritesh Patel, business analyst at Dell’Oro Group.

In the SOHO market, the need for better Wi-Fi coverage and in-home management will be driven by the demand for improved network visibility and application mobility, i.e. having the ability from anywhere in the home to experience high bandwidth applications such as FaceTime, Netflix, and YouTube.

Broadband CPE and Wi-Fi Router vendors will address this need by integrating new wireless technology, 802.11ax, and by improving visibility into analytics and management controls. Technology vendors’ strategy to address the need for better coverage through Mesh Routers will assist in achieving modest to high growth over the next five years.

Enterprise Cloud license revenue will surpass Cloud Managed AP revenue for the first time.

Ethernet switch sales to aggregate WLAN are poised to eclipse switch sales lost to WLAN. China will eclipse as the largest region, North America, in terms of units by 2020.

WLAN forecast

A WLAN market report available in Research and Markets earlier said the global enterprise WLAN market is forecast to grow with a CAGR of 32 percent during the forecast period of 2016-2023.

The factors driving the growth of global enterprise WLAN market are increasing penetration of smart devices and increasing media intensive applications in business environment. However, lack of expertise and data security issues are the factors restraining the growth of global enterprise WLAN market during the forecast period.

Asia Pacific, which accounted for the largest market share in terms of revenue in 2016 for global enterprise WLAN market, will achieve the highest growth. China, Japan, India and South Korea are dependent on the internet and telecommunication services and this adds growth in the enterprise WLAN market in the Asia Pacific region.

Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, Huawei Technologies, Aruba Networks, Ruckus Wireless, Aerohive Networks, Dell, Extreme Networks, among others, are some of the main vendors in the WLAN space.
