Infotech Lead India: Wipro Systems & Technology, a division of Wipro, is targeting SMBs and retailers with its new netPower O1511 servers based on AMD Opteron processors.
The Wipro AMD based server is designed to boost performance while providing optimum data security to SMEs, testing and retail enterprises. It is available in two variants, both powered by a quad-core AMD Opteron 3250 and 8-core AMD Opteron 3280 with additional memory and drive capacity.
Raghavendra Prakash S, general manager & business head, Wipro Systems & Technology, said: “AMD Opteron processors and chipsets propel Wipro netPower O1511 to achieve high performance with complete customization and flexibility.”
Wipro netPower O1511 based on quad-core is priced at Rs 30,000. The server that hosts 8-core processor is priced at Rs 38,000.
Sai Vijay Khanagav, director, OEM business, said: “These servers are suited to operate multiple applications simultaneously making it a better long term investment for enterprises allowing them to optimize their cost of operations.”
Wipro, which reported Rs 1,716 crore net profit in Q3 2012-13, added 50 new customers and increased its headcount by 2,336 people to 1.42 lakh employees.
The healthcare vertical of Wipro is aiming for a revenue of $1 billion through a combination of strategic acquisitions and market leading growth.

According to the IDC, factory revenue in the worldwide server market was $14.6 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012, increased 3.1 percent year over year.
