Telecom major Verizon Communications said it is expanding its Secure Cloud Interconnect service into Latin America and additional sites in Europe and the U.S. The new locations include Sao Paulo, Frankfurt and Russelsheim in Germany and New York and Los Angeles in the U.S.
The Secure Cloud Interconnect service is a software-defined networking offering. It helps enterprises to connect, manage and secure their cloud environments that extend across multiple clouds and data centers around the globe.
Currently, Secure Cloud Interconnect service offers secure, private connections to six cloud providers – Amazon Web Services, Google, HP, Microsoft Azure Express Route for Microsoft Office 365/Skype for Business/Government Cloud, Salesforce and Verizon. It also supports three data center providers – Equinix, CoreSite, and Verizon- at more than 30 global locations in the Americas, Latin America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

Separately, Verizon said it is expanding the availability of its Secure Cloud Interconnect service. With public sector organizations across federal, state and local, education and public safety embracing the benefits of cloud computing, Verizon said many struggle with the complexity of seamlessly connecting, managing and securing their cloud environments which oftentimes extend across multiple clouds and data centers.
In September, Verizon and IT services provider Cognizant announced their partnership to assist enterprises for strengthening their digital presence.
As part of this alliance, joint customers can experience technology demonstrations at Verizon’s Innovation Centers in San Francisco and Waltham, Mass. that will be powered by a new test-bed lab the companies are building. The lab and its technology will enable clients to visualize enterprise-scale projects versus simply viewing and testing point technology offerings.
Earlier in the year, Verizon Enterprise Solutions said it has expanded its cloud offering in Hong Kong, Melbourne and Singapore. Verizon will target multinational companies in the region.
Improvements in memory, storage and network uptime, enhanced flexibility and control are some of the features of enhancements.
