Strategies of Samsung to gain enterprise market share

Infotech Lead Asia: Samsung has devised strategies to gain market share in enterprise segment in Southwest Asia.

The Korean consumer electronics major is planning to achieve 10 percent of its revenue from enterprise business in 2013 in Southwest Asia.

By 2020, the smartphone major targets 23 percent of its total global revenue from B2B segment.

Samsung Director (IT Business) Uday Bhat says the company will focus on verticals like education, healthcare, hospitality, retail and financial services.

According to Ovum, enterprise smartphone shipments are expected to reach 32.9 million in 2012 from 26.8 million in 2011 globally.

Samsung KNOX, a mobile enterprise solution that provides security, will also assist the company to gain market share in the enterprise smartphone space.

For enterprises, Samsung KNOX provides security and protects confidentiality of enterprise data.

For retail users, it provides security of personal data while keeping it separate from enterprise data, and facilitates a simple, intuitive user experience.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s Technology Enterprise program (STEP) ensures that partners are certified and prepared to sell and service Samsung’s enterprise solutions.

One of the main focus areas of Galaxy Note 510, a new tablet, will be enterprises.

Powered by a 1.6 GHz A9 quad-core processor, the new entrant in the Note category features a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front camera and runs Android 4.1.2 Jellybean.

In 2012, Samsung achieved sales of approximately $200 billion. In Southwest Asia, the company tripled its growth rate over the past three years and achieved more than 35 percent sales growth in 2012.

Recently, Sunil Dutt, managing director for India at BlackBerry, said:
“With BlackBerry 10, we have re-designed, re-engineered and re-invented BlackBerry to create a new and unique mobile computing experience, and we are uniquely positioned to change the way in which our customers view mobile technology.”

According to media reports, Nokia started winning back enterprise smartphone market share with several Lumia deals. Nokia has bagged deal from enterprises such as Coca-Cola in Vietnam and Cambodia, London’s estate agent Foxtons and United States’ retail and entertainment complex Mall of America.
