Seagate taps HP to equip HPC

Seagate Technology has joined hands with HP to equip its high performance computing (HPC) solutions with ClusterStor scale-out storage capabilities.

HP will resell Seagate’s ClusterStor 1500 and 9000 appliances along with its HPC solutions and the partnership will support HP’s Apollo portfolio of products and services.

The company said ClusterStor reduces the time and operational costs required to meet mission-critical needs by removing complexities associated with deploying and maintaining traditional high performance storae systems.

Additionally, wide range of users in fields such as bio informatics, pharmaceutical discovery, upstream oil and gas modeling, weather simulation, academic and government research will be benefited with HP HPC.

“As a result of this partnership, customers can now purchase a complete end-to-end HPC storage solution born from two of the most trusted technology companies in the business,” said Ken Claffey, vice president and general manager, Seagate HPC systems business.

“At HP we’re committed to providing flexibility to meet all HPC needs,” said Bill Mannel, vice president and general manager, HP.

Few days ago, Seagate Technology integrated IBM Spectrum Scale software with its ClusterStor High Performance Computing (HPC) storage for software defined storage applications.

In April, Seagate Technology said four Cray customers are among the first to implement its latest high performance computing storage technology.
