Infotech Lead America:SAP is expanding its mobility design center to India to address the increasing demand for custom-built mobile apps that provide consumer-grade experiences.
Operations at the SAP mobility design center will extend from the SAP campus in Palo Alto to headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, and company offices in St. Ingbert, Germany; Montreal, Canada; and Bangalore, India, to leverage SAP talent worldwide.
The SAP Mobility Design Center first opened in September 2012. It has helped customers like ExxonMobil to keep up with the consumerization of IT trends by conceptualizing, designing and building mobile solutions.
SAP says it enables customers to connect with their employees better and engage with consumers. Mobile solutions are built using design thinking principles and are based on the end user’s perspective from the beginning of the process.
The expansion of the SAP Mobility Design Center will enable customers worldwide to engage with SAP to address business challenges caused by constraints of time, budget or infrastructure. Companies can get to market quickly with competitively differentiating solutions that engage and bring value to their end users and consumers, using a collaborative design and development process.
Customers worldwide can now visit the SAP offices and collaborate with a team of experts composed of user experience (UX) designers, architects and developers. First, mock-ups of the solution are created and validated in collaboration with people who will use the solution. Once the UX is designed, the mobile solution is then built to integrate smoothly with the existing back-end application and IT infrastructure. Solutions are designed in line with present business needs and developed with the SAP future roadmap in mind.
Most apps developed at the center are built on the SAP Mobile Platform. They offer flexibility in security options and the ability to develop apps that can be easily adjusted to run across different mobile device platforms. Additional maintenance services are provided to protect the solutions over time.
