Entertainment discovery vendor Rovi has hired Cisco Systems veteran Andy Elder as the head of sales and marketing.

Elder, who will report to Tom Carson, Rovi’s president and CEO, will be based out of the company headquarters in Santa Clara, California.

Prior to joining the company, Elder was executive vice president of Global Licensing at Intellectual Ventures where he was responsible for monetization and go-to-market strategy.

Before that he spent 13 years with Cisco, where he oversaw $2 billion in product. He instituted sales processes, systems and pipeline management, and was responsible for revenue growth around the world, including countries in EMEA and the Americas.
