Riverbed Technology Chief Marketing Officer Subbu Iyer
Riverbed Technology has hired EMC veteran Subbu Iyer as senior vice president and chief marketing officer (CMO).

Subbu Iyer, who will be reporting to Jerry M. Kennelly, chairman and CEO of Riverbed Technology, will focus on improving the company’s position in existing and new markets, streamlining go-to-market approach, and increasing the recognition of the Riverbed brand.

“Riverbed is at the center of what’s going on in the industry, including hybrid and software-defined networking, SD-WAN, cloud and mobile applications, big data, and application and network visibility – far more than most people realize,” said Subbu Iyer, CMO of Riverbed.

At EMC, Subbu Iyer was senior vice president of Global Product Marketing and focused on storage, converged infrastructure, big data and hybrid cloud solutions. EMC will be acquired by Dell shortly.

Previously, Subbu Iyer spent five years at HP Software in a variety of roles, including as a leader in HP’s Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Business where he oversaw products, go-to-market and operations for a $1 billion software business.

Before HP, Subbu Iyer was CMO at OpenClovis (open source high availability and system management), and also held management positions at Oracle, VERITAS Software, and several startups in the software industry.
