Infotech Lead India: Quantum Storage India has appointed Guna Sekaran R as the country manager for India and Sri Lanka.
The appointment of the new country is in line with the company’s expansion plans to tap the big data management and data protection solutions in India.
As part of the expansion plans, Quantum has opened offices in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi.
Quantum Storage India will also open two Centers of Excellence in Bangalore and Delhi. These will showcase solutions of Quantum and customers can run Proof of Concept, Demo and Performance Testing for these solutions.
“As the storage market in India is growing rapidly, we see a substantial opportunity for data protection and big data solutions across government sectors, large corporations and fast emerging small and medium business segment,” said Jeff Lebold, area vice president of Sales at Quantum.
Guna will be responsible for expanding Quantum’s customer base, market share and partnerships, thereby strengthening company foothold across the regions.
“While Quantum has an existing large customer base in the region, there is potential to grow this more significantly in Quantum’s fiscal 2013. I will apply my past experiences to tap the growing market demands in the region,” said Guna Sekaran.
He joined Quantum Storage from Huawei Symantec, where he headed Channels, Sales, Marketing & Alliances.
Prior to this, Guna held several positions at Hitachi Data Systems, NetApp, Quantum, Tandberg Data and Ingram Micro.
Meanwhile, Quantum Corp. has increased the storage density and power savings in its DXi8500 appliances. The DXi8500 now incorporates 3 TB disk drives to deliver 50 percent greater storage density, 42 percent more power savings and 25 percent higher performance.
