QLogic demos QLogic FabricCache performance enhancements in Oracle RAC

QLogic, a provider of Fibre Channel adapters, announced its QLogic FabricCache adapters are demonstrating performance enhancements in Oracle RAC environments.

The company is performing live demonstrations at Oracle OpenWorld highlighting the key benefits of FabricCache. The demonstrations will be carried out using SwingBench, an Oracle database load generator.

The demo will show how FabricCache adapters deliver ultra-low latency, shared storage access and the high-bandwidth performance enhancements required in Oracle RAC environments.

QLogic FabricCache can speed transactions-per-minute by five times in Oracle RAC business analytics applications, achieve up to 75 percent faster transaction response times, and significantly decrease latency on storage area networks for dramatically improved I/O performance.

“QLogic is the first company to extend the benefits of flash cache to clustered application servers with our FabricCache caching SAN adapter,” said Amit Vashi, vice president of products, technology and planning, QLogic.

“At Oracle OpenWorld, customers can see for themselves how QLogic FabricCache can significantly accelerate Oracle RAC performance in Fibre Channel SAN environments,” Vashi added.

QLogic will also display Oracle’s Sun Storage 16 Gb FC PCIe Universal HBA and Sun Storage 16 Gb FC ExpressModule Universal HBA, both powered by QLogic’s FlexSuite technology.

These HBAs are field-configurable, dual-personality adapters, which can operate as 16Gb/8Gb/4Gb Fibre Channel, 10GbE NIC or 10GbE CNA without additional licensing costs.

Sun Storage 16 Gb FC PCIe Universal HBAs and Sun Storage 16 Gb FC ExpressModule Universal HBAs are the only Sun Universal HBAs that feature QLogic port isolation for superior performance, scalability and reliability.

QLogicThese versatile adapters are ideal for use across multiple Oracle SPARC servers and Sun x86 systems, and they enable users to change Oracle enterprise server connectivity protocols to address an organization’s changing business requirements.

Oracle’s Sun Storage 16 Gb FC PCIe Universal HBAs and Sun Storage 16 Gb FC ExpressModule Universal HBAs support Oracle Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise, Microsoft Windows Server, and VMware.

The adapters are designed to enhance performance in Oracle Enterprise Linux with support for the Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) with in-box drivers, and are ready for the forthcoming release of Oracle VM Server (OVM), the company said.
