Polycom posts net loss of $24 million on third quarter 2013 revenue of $336 million

Unified communication and video conferencing major Polycom reported a net loss of $24 million on a third quarter 2013 revenue of $336 million.

In the third quarter of 2012, Polycom posted net loss of $14.8 million on revenue of $335 million.

“We continue to prioritize those areas of the business that maximize growth, while also pursuing opportunities to reduce expenses and drive expanded profitability,” said Kevin Parker, Polycom’s Chairman and interim Chief Executive Officer.

Asia Pacific did not support Polycom during the third quarter of 2013. Polycom experienced growth in the U.S. enterprise and voice related businesses, said Polycom in statement.

Revenue contribution from the U.S. market increased to 53 percent from 51 percent.

EMEA region now contributes 80 percent compared with 78.6 percent earlier.

Asia Pacific revenue contribution to Polycom, which competes with networking major Cisco, dipped to 79.2 percent from 85.9 percent.

UC Group Systems chipped in 66 percent to Polycom total revenue during the third quarter of 2013 from 67 percent.

UC personal devices contribution was 56.9 percent against 45.7 percent in the third quarter of 2012, Polycom said.

UC platform contribution increased to 58.2 percent from 63.9 percent.
