Telecom Lead America: Polycom has teamed up with robotics innovator Anybots to create Polycom video enabled robots called QB.
The company has also tied up with patient-monitoring company Vivify Health to jointly work on video collaboration solutions that can help reduce unnecessary rehospitalizations.
Polycom recently announced the availability of Polycom RealPresence CloudAXIS Suite, which connects healthcare organizations to patients or experts outside the hospital.
According to a report from BCC Research, the global telemedicine market will be worth $27.3 billion in 2016.
Polycom’s QB robot has a tablet running the Polycom RealPresence Mobile software. The robot can be controlled remotely to evaluate the patient’s environment. Vivify Health’s management platform integrates with healthcare information systems to feed data about the user back to caregivers. This relayed information helps healthcare professionals to conduct video meetings with the patient. The solution is compatible with a variety of mobile devices.
Polycom RealPresence CloudAXIS Suite enables healthcare organizations to connect to anyone with a browser on a PC, mobile device or video room system. Users have the benefit of using the devices and the medium they are already familiar with. The system integrates Skype, Facebook and Google Talk contactsso that healthcare organizations, patients and specialists can engage in more productive discussions and consultations over video.
Pre-scheduled video meetings will help patients avoid unnecessary trips to hospital clinics and reduce cost to themselves and other payers.
Using video reduces time taken to administer effective healthcare while improving communications and collaboration across the entire healthcare delivery system for better decision-making, project management, efficiency, cost-savings and productivity.
Polycom has formed alliances with several companies such as AMD Global Telemedicine, Eceptionist and GlobalMed to provide healthcare solutions.
