Polycom CIO joins Brocade, CMO moves to Riverbed

Videoconferencing major Polycom has lost two key executives – CIO and CMO. They key moves benefitted Brocade and Riverbed.

Polycom CIO Ari Bose joined networking company Brocade as its Chief Information Officer (CIO). Bose will be responsible for the strategic transformation of the global Brocade IT organization, Bose will report to Gale England, vice president of Customer Advocacy and Operational Effectiveness.

Bose will leverage Brocade’s portfolio of data center networking solutions and partner solutions to create an IT function that can drive the company forward and become a showcase for the industry.

Specifically, Bose will take care standardizing the company’s internal IT systems to support cross-functional collaboration and manage information security and risk.

One major initiative is to continue expanding the company’s network-centric virtualization strategy in which Brocade currently operates at more than 70 percent virtual workloads.

Most recently at Polycom, he served as senior vice president and CIO, where he led transformation of the global IT organization. He was also responsible for overseeing the company’s internal global visual communications network.

Prior to that, Bose was senior vice president and CIO at UTStarcom, and he has held senior IT positions at companies such as 3Com, Bay Networks and Apple.

Meanwhile, Polycom CMO Kate Hutchison joined Riverbed Technology, the application performance company as chief marketing officer (CMO). Hutchison will report to Riverbed Chairman and CEO, Jerry M. Kennelly.

Before joining Riverbed, Hutchison was executive vice president and CMO at Polycom where she helped drive the company’s transformation and leadership in software-driven unified communications and video collaboration.

Prior to Polycom, Hutchison was CMO and vice president of marketing for VMware, where she expanded the company’s position from a hypervisor vendor to a provider of virtualization solutions to help customers build private and public clouds.

During her five years at Citrix, Hutchison helped develop the strategy to double the company’s revenue and emerge as a leader in application access and delivery.

While at BEA Systems, Hutchison built and led all aspects of marketing as the company grew from $300 million to $1 billion in three years — one of the fastest software companies to achieve a billion in annual revenue.
