Padmasree Warrior to join Microsoft board

Software major Microsoft is set to induct Padmasree Warrior, former chief strategy officer and chief technology officer at Cisco, to its board of directors.

The US-based technology giant also announced board nomination to Sandra Peterson, chairman, Johnson & Johnson.

Both business leaders with significant experience are directly relevant to the strategic vision and business strategies of Microsoft. They will be presented for election at the company’s annual shareholders meeting on December 2, 2015.

Warrior, 54, served as strategic advisor to enterprise networking company Cisco Systems from June to September 2015. Before that, she was chief technology and strategy officer from July 2012 to June 2015 and served as chief technology officer, senior vice president engineering and general manager global enterprise segment from 2010 to 2012.

She joined Cisco in 2008 as the chief technology officer. Before Cisco, Warrior worked with Motorola from 1999 to 2007, most recently as executive vice president and chief technology officer from 2003 to 2007.

Warrior currently serves on the board of directors of The Gap, a retail apparel company, and Box, a cloud-based, mobile-optimized enterprise content collaboration platform.
