OneDrive offers 1 TB of online storage and Office 365 for $6.99 per month

Microsoft has announced new packages for OneDrive and Office 365 customers, along with new discounts for OneDrive customers.

Under the new package OneDrive will offer 15 GB free for everyone, an upgrade from its earlier 7 GB free offering.

In addition to this, the company announced 1 TB of OneDrive storage for all versions of Office 365. For Office 365 Home ($9.99/mo) users will get 1 TB per person (up to 5 people), and with Office 365 Personal ($6.99/mo) and University ($79.99/4yr) they will get 1 TB per subscription.

Omar Shahine, group program manager, OneDrive, said, in his blog, “Our data tells us that 3 out of 4 people have less than 15 GB of files stored on their PC. Factoring in what they may also have stored on other devices, we believe providing 15 GB for free will make it much easier for people to have their documents, videos, and photos available in one place.”

OneDrive also announced price cut for its monthly Office 365 offering, by over 70 percent. The new monthly prices will be $1.99 for 100 GB (previously $7.49) and $3.99 for 200 GB (previously $11.49).

The new plans and discounts will take effect in the next month. Current subscribers will automatically be moved to the lower prices, Shahine said in his blog.
