Santen Pharmaceutical has deployed NTT Communications, the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT Group, to support its global growth targets.
NTT has constructed an ICT backbone and information system for Santen to support its goal of becoming one of the world’s top three providers of medicines for prescription ophthalmic solutions.
Santen, a pharmaceutical company for Japanese market, has subsidiaries in 18 countries.
The hybrid cloud environment combines NTT communications services for cloud, data center and network, which are globally centralized for efficient system management and support Santen employees with globalized multilingual help desk.
Santen now responds more flexibly to global business development needs, enhance global governance, strengthen business continuity and optimize ICT resources and costs with centralized hybrid cloud infrastructure.
As part of the infrastructure upgrade, Santen introduced hybrid cloud in Japan in January and plans to expand to U.S and EU. Last October, services for system management and support were first deployed at Santel’s EU bases and were then later expanded to the company’s Japanese and USA bases.
The newly deployed global system consists of NTT’s hybrid cloud environment that combines its Enterprise Cloud service and Nextcenter data center service to integrate Santen’s global backbone and information systems. Santen is now more flexible to respond to changes in the global environment.
NTT has deployed a global disaster recovery environment and provided 24/7 monitoring and management of Santen’s global ICT system. NTT also provides a support desk with multilingual support.
“We choose NTT communications because of its ability to provide global ITC infrastructure with its cloud, data center and network services. We also valued the high quality of its global customer service and support,” said Noriaki Yamamoto, Santen’s corporate officer, CIO and head of information system division.
In a similar development recently, Honda Motor Company deployed NTT communication to leverage NTT communication’s Enterprise cloud service to significantly strengthen its global supplier with faster, more secure file sharing and reduce annual operating costs.
