Netgear’s Beamforming+ improves Wi-Fi coverage

Infotech Lead America: After introducing the the R6250 Smart Wi-Fi Router that offers  optimal wireless coverage for large homes earlier this month, Netgear has now announced support for Beamforming+ on the Netgear R6300 802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router and the Netgear A6200 802.11ac Dual Band Wi-Fi USB Adapter.

Netgear Beamforming+, a signal-focusing technology, extends coverage, reduces interference, dead spots and boosts the speed of  802.11ac Wi-Fi connections. Beamforming+ is Netgear’s implementation of the Beamforming standard with a fine-tuned Wi-Fi design for improved Wi-Fi range and performance.

Users will see an improvement in Wi-Fi performance and reliability when they connect their R6300 Router to a PC or laptop configured with an A6200 Adapter or with an 802.11ac device with Beamforming support. A second R6300 acting as a client bridge can also provide a higher performance solution for critical video over Wi-Fi applications.

Beamforming+ is also available through a free firmware upgrade for current Netgear customers using the R6300 Wi-Fi Router and the A6200 Wi-Fi USB Adapter. The new router firmware is designed to improve Wi-Fi performance and range while connecting to other Wi-Fi devices.

Netgear Beamforming+ works by recognizing the location of a wireless device on a user’s network and then directing the Wi-Fi signal directly at the device while constantly checking and tracking moving devices such as mobile phones and tablets. This targeted approach helps amplify the Wi-Fi signal by adjusting the phase of the transmitted signal and delivering stable Wi-Fi connections for voice and video. The result is a highly tuned Wi-Fi network that optimizes overall wireless performance for faster downloads, clearer voice calls, uninterrupted HD video and lag-free gaming.

Earlier this month, Netgear completed the acquisition of select assets and operations of the Sierra Wireless AirCard business with an aim to accelerate the mobile initiative of its service provider business unit and become a global leader in providing the latest in LTE data networking access devices.
