NEC

NEC Corporation of America announced a new HYDRAstor HS6 Series, HS6-5000A.

The storage system is designed to scale and meet the large archival requirements of data generating industries such as media and entertainment.

The HS6-5000A, reduces the need for expensive hardware upgrades and downtime.

HS6-5000A delivers benefits such as unrestricted independent seamless scalability of both performance and capacity, greater data resiliency with advanced erasure coding, dynamic auto-provisioning, investment protection and in-place hardware refresh, 50 percent more capacity, 20 percent less power consumption than previous generation and supports REST API, Amazon S3 and OpenStack Swift.

“The dynamic and ever increasing demands of today’s data centric industries demand an archival storage system that couples ease of use, optimal capacity, investment protection and fault-proof, reliable performance,” said Hide Senta, VP of strategic business, NEC Corporation of America.

“In some respects, this is a formidable wish list but HYDRAstor HS6-5000A meets this need with a grid storage design created especially for multi-media applications.”

The HS6-5000A is aligned with major media storage technology partners.

NEC will be exhibiting at the upcoming NAB Conference in Las Vegas, April 18-21, booth number SL15713 in South Lower Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
