Microsoft veteran Tony Scott joins VMware as CIO

Microsoft veteran Tony Scott has joined VMware as CIO.

As senior vice president and CIO, Scott will manage VMware’s information technology organization, a group that manages critical technology systems supporting the company’s business operations.

Scott, who has more than 30 years of experience running global IT operations, will report to VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger.

Most recently, Scott served as corporate vice president and chief information officer of Microsoft.

At Microsoft, he was responsible for security, infrastructure, messaging and business applications for all of Microsoft, including support of the product groups, the corporate business groups, and the global sales and marketing organization.

Before joining Microsoft, Scott served as senior vice president and chief information officer of The Walt Disney, and chief technology officer at General Motors.
