Infotech Lead India: JV Ramamurthy, president, HCL Infosystems, is the new president of IT hardware association MAIT.

Amar Babu, managing director of Lenevo, has been elected as its vice president for the term 2012-13.
“We are pleased to have J V Ramamurthy on board as the president of MAIT. An industry veteran, with in-depth exposure to various aspects of the IT industry, he is respected in the industry for his incisive vision and astute knowledge. We are also delighted to have Amar Babu as vice president. Both have contributed immensely to the development of IT market in the country. With their vast experience, they will add immense value towards augmenting and furthering the IT industry ecosystem in the country,” said Alok Bharadwaj, president of MAIT (for 2011-12).
“In the year ahead, MAIT will continue to play a pivotal role in the growth of the Industry and focus on enhancing visibility and relevance in matters like policy advisory and research. MAIT will also work with the Government, industry and other stakeholders including other industry bodies to raise the profile of the industry, influence the environment in which the members operate and increase the benefits of membership,” said Ramamurthy.

“I am grateful to the industry for reposing faith in me. For India to emerge globally competitive in the hardware arena, apart from creating a vibrant domestic market, we need to create a stable policy regime. A robust and encouraging ecosystem covering all aspects of the downstream industry will enable us emerge as a strong IT manufacturing nation,” said MAIT Vice President Amar Babu.
