Lenovo launches ThinkAgile VX powered by VMware vSAN

Lenovo TechWorld 2016Lenovo launched ThinkAgile VX Series — powered by VMware vSAN hyperconvergence infrastructure – to help businesses modernize their IT environments and building a software-defined data center.

Lenovo – at VMWorld 2017 — said that ThinkAgile VX Series saves time and improves performance, while making IT organization more agile, and freeing up time to focus on strategic projects that will increase the bottom line.

Lenovo has integrated this hyperconverged infrastructure with vSphere, vCenter, and Lenovo XClarity tools to virtualize and manage infrastructure. The ThinkAgile VX provides public cloud-like simplicity, in a private or hybrid cloud environment.

Unlike ReadyNodes, VMware has pre-installed, pre-tested and validated vSAN in Lenovo factory on the VX Series. Lenovo ThinkAgile Advantage, a professional service, is part of the system, to boost the effectiveness of IT infrastructure.

“Today’s datacenter market is disrupted by the increasing demands on IT departments to deliver new services and applications. They are looking for new ways to resolve these challenges while growing their business,” said Radhika Krishnan, vice president and general manager, Software Defined Infrastructure, Lenovo Data Center Group.

The VX Series — built on Lenovo ThinkSystem platforms and powered by Intel Xeon Scalable processors — reduces data center complexity by aggregating servers, storage and virtualization resources into a common resource pool within an industry-standard platform.

The scalable VX Series assists customers to start with as few as three nodes to grow storage and performance capacity without costly over provisioning or disrupting daily operations.

Lenovo said the VX Series is equipped with the latest version of VMware vSAN, which includes up to seven times greater storage space with deduplication and compression capabilities.

“Hyperconvergence has greatly improved our data center operations in terms of cost efficiency, data protection, scalability, and data efficiency. We deployed Lenovo’s VMware vSAN ReadyNodes and now our environment is easy to manage and less complex,” said Marcus Hill, CEO, Litewire.

Lenovo is also certified to offer VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) ReadyNodes, which brings together VMware’s vSphere, vSAN, and NSX virtualization into a natively integrated stack that can be deployed on-premises or run as-a-service from the public cloud.

“Hyperconvergence has become the architecture of choice for modern infrastructure. VMware vSAN continues to help drive transformative change that increases efficiency, flexibility, and performance,” said Yanbing Li, senior vice president and general manager, Storage and Availability, VMware.

Lenovo’s ThinkAgile VX Series platform can be used as infrastructure for remote office/branch office (ROBO) and retail stores as well as virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployments and enterprise applications.

Lenovo is selling VX Series in three models and offers full configure-to-order flexibility. Lenovo is offering all systems in either all-flash or hybrid configurations.
