Leading suppliers of WLAN solutions in Q3: IDC

The latest IDC report has revealed the WLAN market share of Cisco, HPE-Aruba, Ubiquiti, Huawei and CommScope during the third quarter of 2020.
WLAN leaders in Q3 2020Cisco’s enterprise WLAN revenues increased 4.9 percent to $750 million. Cisco remains the market share leader, finishing the quarter with 43.1 percent share, down from 44.3 percent in 2Q20.

HPE-Aruba revenues dropped 4.5 percent to $218 million; the company’s WLAN market share stood at 12.5 percent in the quarter.

Ubiquiti enterprise WLAN revenues grew 30.1 percent. The company’s WLAN market share was 8.6 percent, up from 7.1 percent in the previous quarter.

Huawei’s revenues rose 27.4 percent and its WLAN market share rose to 6.4 percent from 6.1 percent in 2Q20.

CommScope (formerly ARRIS/Ruckus) revenues declined 0.4 percent. The company held 4.8 percent WLAN market share in 3Q20.

The consumer and enterprise worldwide wireless local area network (WLAN) market segments rose 12 percent in the third quarter of 2020.

The enterprise segment grew 7.4 percent to $1.7 billion in revenue in Q3 2020. The enterprise WLAN market had declined 9.5 percent in the second quarter of 2020. Consumer WLAN market grew 15.3 percent.

Wi-Fi 6-enabled dependent access points (APs) made up 39.9 percent of revenues, up from 28.9 percent of revenues in the second quarter of 2020. Wi-Fi 6 units accounted for 26.7 percent of shipments, up from 16.8 percent in the previous quarter.

Enterprises began reinvesting in critical WLAN technology. Wireless connectivity will remain a critical technology for enterprises as they look to support bandwidth-intensive applications on the network, such as video traffic, Brandon Butler, senior research analyst, Network Infrastructure, IDC, said in its research report.
