IBM acquires SiXworks to bolster public sector business

IBM has acquired SiXworks, a UK-based consultancy serving the UK defence sector and specialising in digital transformation.

Founded in 2017, and headquartered in Farnborough, England, SiXworks is a partner to the UK Ministry of Defence. SiXworks does not reveal the number of employees and its revenue.

IBM did not reveal financial details of the acquisition.

IBM Consulting will have more ability to serve clients in the UK defence sector with additional technical domain skills across digital, cyber and defence cloud solutions.

Earlier, IBM acquired Octo to become the digital transformation partner to the U.S. federal government, including defence, health, and civilian agencies.

SiXworks will add complementary capabilities to IBM’s existing cybersecurity, data and AI offerings in the United Kingdom.

IBM has generated revenue of $18.492 billion from the Europe / Middle East / Africa region in 2023. IBM says its sales revenue in the United Kingdom increased 0.7 percent in 2023. Total revenue of IBM was $61.86 billion in 2023.
