Hydro selects Verizon Enterprise Solutions for managed network

 

Norway-based Hydro, a global supplier of aluminum has inked an agreement with Verizon, under which the wireless major will deliver a managed global Wide Area Network for Hydro.

The managed global Wide Area Network will span integrated security and remote access solutions, which will create an integrated partner firewall.

The firewall will enable third-party access to select business solutions, and full professional service support.

Under the contract, Verizon will provide Hydro with network and security monitoring on a follow-the-sun basis through its global network and security operations centers in Dortmund, Germany, Singapore, Ashburn, Va., and Sao Paolo.

The contract covers the transition of services from the existing provider and three years of operation.

Hydro employs more than 23,000 people in more than 40 countries around the globe. Its operations range from bauxite extraction to the production of rolled and extruded aluminum products and building systems.

Verizon Enterprise Solutions claims that it creates global connections that generate growth, drive business innovation and move society forward.

The company provides industry-specific solutions and a full range of global wholesale offerings delivered over the company’s secure mobility, cloud, strategic networking and advanced communications platforms.

Recently, Orange Business Services and Verizon Enterprise Solutions signed an interprovider connectivity agreement to meet enterprises’ increasing demand for video collaboration offerings.

The collaboration will enable Verizon Immersive Video Exchange customers and Orange Telepresence Community customers to work together via video meetings with a greater pool of participating customers, partners and suppliers worldwide, using Cisco TelePresence endpoints.
