Hughes Network launches HR4700 Branch Gateway

Infotech Lead Asia: Hughes Network Systems has launched its HR4700 Branch Gateway.

The new single device combines security from Fortinet with routing and broadband WAN optimization.

Hughes Network says the new gateway will address the demanding security and application performance needs of retailers, restaurants, retail petroleum and finance, government agencies.

“As multi-branch organizations look to deploy new cloud services, mobility and partner applications, they need a networking solution that delivers high performance, strong security and scalability,” said Sampath Ramaswami, senior director of strategic planning, North American Enterprise Division at Hughes.

Hughes will launch HR4700 in second quarter of 2013.

Meanwhile, Hughes Network Systems announced that one of the world’s largest multinational financial services companies has awarded it a contract extension for managed network services across Latin America. The contract is for five years and is valued at over $11 million.

The Hughes High Availability satellite network serves as backup to the customer’s terrestrial network at over 100 locations in Central and Latin America (CALA), automatically taking over without interruption in case of terrestrial failure.

Additionally, the Hughes solution load balances the traffic between the networks, doubling available bandwidth and saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars in upgrade costs.
