China’s Huawei Technologies wants to become world’s third largest storage vendor by 2018, Reuters reported, quoting Huawei’s storage product line president Fan Ruiqi.
To achieve the goal, the company is targeting European and local institutions to takes market share from leaders EMC Corp and International Business Machines Corp.
“We don’t want to just be No.1 in China…We want to be at least the top three in the world by 2018,” Reuters quoted Fan.
Huawei expansion strategies include targeting financial institutions, governments and telecom carriers for data storage.
He declined to reveal revenue figures, but said growth in Western Europe from countries such as Italy and Spain was particularly strong.
However, he expects Huawei’s revenue from data-storage to reach at least $2 billion by 2018.
