Does Huawei Enterprise business need new direction?

Huawei Ma YueHuawei — at its Enterprise Partner Summit 2017 in Shenzhen – said it will enhance its network of OpenLabs from 5 to 12 for innovation, development, validation, and experience of solutions with customers and partners.

Huawei will impose a unified framework of polices for its network of partners to protect the rights and interests of partners.

Huawei will launch a unified enablement platform called Huawei Partner University which will train talents for the development of the service ecosystem by providing practical courses directly relevant to partners.

“Huawei is committed to fostering technical innovations, and to building an ‘open, scalable, flexible, and secure’ platform. It will create a new ecosystem that is open and cooperative to help customers tackle the challenges of digital transformation, which is critical to achieving business success,” said Ma Yue, president of Global Sales Department and Vice President of Huawei Enterprise Business Group.

Huawei, which competes with Cisco, IBM, Oracle, Dell, HPE, Lenovo, etc. is also looking to ramp up its efforts to facilitate the digital transformation of entire industries.

At the end of 2016, Huawei had more than 12,000 channel partners, over 400 solution partners, more than 2,100 service partners, and about 46,000 Huawei certified engineers.

In 2016, Huawei signed strategic alliances with SAP and Accenture, and partnerships with nearly 100 companies, including Honeywell, Infosys, T-Systems, Siemens, Alstom, and Hexagon.

These initiatives have led to the development of about 200 industry-specific joint solutions that are both innovative and competitive in the fields of public safety, transportation, energy, manufacturing, finance, and Smart City.

What Huawei Enterprise business missing

Huawei is not enjoying the reputation as the top supplier for several enterprises in the world. Many parts of the enterprise business of Huawei is not ranked in top 3 in terms of market share. Recently, Huawei said it has been ranked three above Lenovo in the global server space in Q4 2016, quoting Gartner.

Innovation has assisted several US-based technology companies to generate strong revenue streams from enterprises. Enterprise CIOs and CXOs and channel partners are the main focus area for these top class technology companies.

At present, Huawei is continuing to develop the eco-system for developing the enterprise business market. In several markets including North America and India, Huawei’s enterprise business are not doing well.

The IT industry and enterprise CIOs want to know the name of the top 10 business clients and industry verticals of Huawei. Has Huawei’s enterprise networking solutions with the so called innovation assisted enterprises?
