The latest IDC report indicates that HPE has overtaken rival Dell Technologies in the server market in Q4 2019.
Server vendor revenue increased 7.5 percent to $25.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2019, according to IDC. Server shipments grew 14 percent to just over 3.4 million units during the fourth quarter.
Volume server revenue rose 12.1 percent to $19.7 billion.
Midrange server revenue declined 14.1 percent to $3.3 billion.
High-end server systems grew 8.9 percent to $2.4 billion.
HPE is the #1 server supplier with revenue shares of 16.3 percent.
Dell Technologies has server revenue shares of 15.7 percent.
HPE’s server revenues were down 3.4 percent.
Dell Technologies server revenue declined 9.9 percent.
IBM was the third ranking server supplier during the quarter, generating 9.1 percent revenue share on growth of 17.6 percent.
Inspur/Inspur Power Systems was fourth with 6.8 percent revenue share and year-over-year growth of 12.1 percent.
Lenovo had server market share of 5.6 percent.
Huawei had server market share of 5.1 percent.
Lenovo’s server revenues were down 2.6 percent year.
Huawei grew its server revenues 1.8 percent.
The ODM Direct group of vendors accounted for 25.5 percent of total revenue and was up 37.9 percent year over year to $6.47 billion.
Dell Technologies led the worldwide server market in terms of unit shipments, accounting for 16.1 percent of all units shipped during the fourth quarter of 2019.
Dell Technologies had server market share of 17.2 percent in Q3.
HPE/New H3C Group had 16.8 percent revenue share in the global server business during Q3 2019.
Server revenues for Dell Technologies declined 10.8 percent.
HPE/New H3C Group’s server revenue fell 3.2 percent year over year.
Inspur captured 9.0 percent of server market share and grew revenues 15.3 percent year over year.
Lenovo had 5.4 percent share in server business.
Cisco had 4.9 percent revenue share in server market.
Lenovo saw revenue decline by 16.9 percent year over year and Cisco saw its revenue grow 3.1 percent year over year.
