Crusoe specializes in constructing and operating modular data centers to provide specialized compute capacity to meet the escalating demands of AI. What sets Crusoe apart is its commitment to climate-aligned operations. The company harnesses otherwise wasted, stranded, or clean energy sources, such as flared natural gas or stranded renewable energy, to power its data centers.

In this strategic partnership with HPE, Crusoe will leverage the HPE Cray XD supercomputers, purpose-built to deliver energy-efficient performance and scale crucial for training and fine-tuning large-scale AI models. These supercomputers are designed by HPE in collaboration with NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs and NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand, providing advanced, accelerated compute and networking capabilities to support a wide range of AI and data-intensive workloads.

Justin Hotard, Executive Vice President and General Manager of HPC, AI & Labs at HPE, emphasized, “Our proven supercomputing solutions provide the specialized performance and scale required to effectively train larger AI models and unlock significant value across industries.”

Crusoe’s aim is to repurpose energy production waste into valuable computing resources that benefit enterprises, academic institutions, research facilities, and entrepreneurs in developing products and solutions that positively impact lives. Through this collaboration, Crusoe gains access to HPE’s expertise in supercomputing, IT infrastructure, and sustainable IT, accelerating its core initiatives towards a greener and more efficient future.

Chase Lochmiller, CEO and Co-Founder of Crusoe, expressed the vision, stating, “Our mission is to align the future of computing with the future of the climate, and as a leader in supercomputing and sustainable IT, HPE is an ideal collaborator to support Crusoe on this journey.”

This alliance represents a significant step towards sustainable AI computing, exemplifying the marriage of cutting-edge technology and environmental responsibility to drive meaningful advancements in the field of artificial intelligence.
