HP signs IT extension deal with Ericsson

HP has signed IT extension deal with telecom equipment major Ericsson.

The IT deal between HP Enterprise Services and Ericsson, for an additional three years, is for transforming Ericsson’s IT environment to adapt to its future business needs.

HP will move Ericsson’s desktop services to a desktop-as-a-service model using HP Workplace360 Services with HP Client Virtualization Services. Once complete, a majority of Ericsson’s employees will be able to use any device to access most of the company’s applications and documents from any location.

As part of the IT deal, HP will provide HP Service Desk Services, creating a standardized, streamlined service model that provides employees a single point of contact to resolve IT-related incidents and requests.

Employees will have multiple contact choices for these services including phone, email, chat and web-based self help, moving toward more self-help based solutions.

The transformation to a cloud-based IT solution supports Ericsson’s goal to create a more flexible, scalable environment while standardizing services costs. With a standardized environment, Ericsson can lower its IT costs.

“Cloud technology gives global companies such as Ericsson the scale and flexibility to grow while allowing increasingly mobile workers to serve customers no matter where they are,” said Howard Hughes, senior vice president and general manager–Europe, Middle East and Africa, HP Enterprise Services.
