India networking market — Ethernet switch, routers and WLAN – achieved 67.1 percent growth in Q3 2018 with increased investments across the enterprise and service provider deployments, IDC said.
Switch market
India’s Ethernet switch market revenue rose 34.4 percent to $160.3 million.
India Government’s push towards digitalization through upgrade of public infrastructure and multiple smart city initiatives; telecom infrastructure modernization drives and banking sector’s investment in network infrastructure to improve customer experience, is expected to drive growth in the coming quarters.
Cisco dominates the Ethernet switch market with a 65.7 percent share in Q3 2018, followed by HPE and Huawei.
Router market
The India router market revenue rose 140.4 percent to $214.9 million.
The growth in India router market was primarily driven by the service provider segment. Indian telecom operators made investment in network upgrades to meet the demands of 4G VoLTE footprint.
Cisco accounted to 3/4th of the router market in Q3 2018. Nokia and Huawei achieved high double-digit growth.
WLAN market
WLAN market revenue rose 12 percent to $54 million. Demand from enterprise and service provider segments drove growth.
Consumer WLAN revenue declined. Enterprise investment in mobility networks and government investment in improving wireless infrastructure for the masses as well as in smart city projects, were the key drivers for growth in the WLAN market in India.
Cisco leads the WLAN market with 24.8 percent market share in Q3 2018, followed by TP-Link and HPE.
The Ethernet switch, router and WLAN market are expected to grow in single digits in terms of compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for 2017-2022 – driven by India Government and enterprise digitalization initiatives.
