Gurugram has more ATM booths than Himachal Pradesh

Haryana’s commercial and industrial hub Gurugram alone has many more ATM booths than the total in Himachal Pradesh state and much more banking business as compared to 18 other districts of Haryana, an official said on Monday.

Gurugram has total of 715 bank branches and 1,306 Automated Teller Machine (ATM) booths of which only two are not functional, as compared to Himachal Pradesh’s total of 1,100 ATM booths.

R.C. Nayak, lead manager and coordinator, Corporation Bank, told IANS that Gurugram banks received a total Rs 1,624 crore from the Reserve Bank of India in the last 15 days after the demonetisation of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 currency notes and all 715 banks in the city functioned normally.

Gurugram has six current chests, including of the State Bank of India, Overseas Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Corporation bank, HDFC, and Sarva Haryana Gramin Bank, with stock capacity of Rs 8,213 crore.

Banks in Gurugram on Monday received a circular regarding Chest Guarantee Scheme for Specified Bank Notes (SBNs) – CGS.

It said, “…it has now been decided to introduce a new scheme for depositing SBNs with designated currency chest at the district level, under guarantee agreement similar to the current facility available at RBI offices. Instructions pertaining to the scheme are a the Annex.”
