Ericsson and Cisco sign deal to add $1 bn fresh revenue for both

Ericsson and Cisco announced a business and technology partnership to focus on telecom service provider and IoT businesses.

Both Cisco and Ericsson are expected to generated an additional revenue of $1 billion each in 2018.

Both Cisco and Ericsson will commit to network transformation via reference architectures and joint development, systems-based management and control, a reseller agreement, and collaboration in key emerging market segments.
Ericsson will receive license fees from Cisco. They will be working on a joint initiative focused on SDN/NFV and network management and control.

Ericsson and Cisco have a combined 56,000+ patents, research and development investment of $11 billion, and more than 76,000 services professionals in more than 180 countries.

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said the partnership will drive growth for both companies, value for customers, and innovation for the industry.

Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg said the strategic partnership will focus on telecom service providers initially, then on opportunities for the enterprise segment and accelerating the scale and adoption of IoT services across industries.
