Equinix SV5 data center

Equinix said it will open a new International Business Exchange data center called DA7 in Dallas later this year.

Equinix will invest approximately $20 million in the DA7 facility, which includes an initial phase of 300 cabinets with 800 additional cabinets expected by the second quarter of 2016.

“We have seen tremendous growth in the Dallas market and DA7 will give businesses increased flexibility to support their ever-changing IT needs,” said Karl Strohmeyer, president, Americas, Equinix. “This includes businesses that need greater flexibility due to business drivers such as the Internet of Things and big data.”

Equinix already have five  data center in Dallas and are located within the Dallas Infomart.

With close proximity to the Infomart, DA7 will offer connectivity to more than 275 customers including leading network and cloud service providers, as well as the Equinix Cloud Exchange.

In September, Equinix has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with SunEdison for 105 megawatts of new solar power.
