EMC ups all-flash arrays market shares with XtremIO

EMC has accelerated its market share in all-flash arrays, according to a recently published  Quarterly Enterprise Storage System Tracker by IDC.

The enterprise IT vendor has achieved the lead with the sustained and rapid growth of its XtremIO all-flash storage array. XtremIO topped the all-flash storage array market in just nine months after its 2013 debut.

XtremIO business achieved a $2 billion  for bookings in Q42015, capping full-year 2015 XtremIO revenues of more than $1 billion.

In the all-flash array market, EMC has 40.3 percent market share in vendor revenue for CYQ42015, up 4.1 percentage points from the previous year.

For the entire calendar year 2015, EMC’s 37.7 percent market share for all flash array vendor revenue is more than two-and-a-half times the next competitor’s market share.

This market share increase is reflected across industry verticals. In 2015, 15 of the top 20 banking and finance companies on the Forbes Global 2000 Top Companies list purchased flash solutions from the IT vendor with a 202 percent annual increase in bookings.

EMC revenue from telecommunications, media and entertainment companies grew 316 percent in 2015 YoY with 19 out of the top 20 companies on the Forbes Global 2000 Top Companies using EMC flash solutions.

Notable customers that have recently embraced the company’s all-flash-based storage systems include are State of Indiana, New York-based IT consultancy CMA and Etisalat Group.
