EMC leads storage software market share with 25.6% in Q2: IDC

IBM and Symantec are the other two storage software vendors.

IBM market share in storage software space is 16 percent, while Symantec has 14.8 percent in the second quarter of 2013.

Storage software market revenues increased 4.1 percent year over year to nearly $3.5 billion in the second quarter of 2013.

Data protection & recovery software and storage & device management software were the two biggest sources of growth this quarter.

EMC-Corporation-HQ

Veeam and CommVault experienced the largest organic growth during the quarter with 99.7 percent and 20.5 percent year-over-year growth, respectively.

Among the storage software market segments, Data Protection & Recovery software revenues were up 8.9 percent year over year to nearly $1.3 billion.

Storage & Device Management software revenues experienced year-over-year growth of 9.1 percent, reaching $674 million in 2Q13.
