Digital River hires IBM executive Marco Vergani to head EMEA region

Digital River, a provider of Commerce-as-a-Service solutions, has hired IBM executive Marco Vergani as its general manager and vice president of EMEA to oversee sales, marketing and operations in the region.

Vergani will be based in London and manage Digital River’s operations in Austria, England, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Russia and Sweden.

The appointment is important for the company because international revenue accounted for nearly 52 percent of Digital River’s total revenue in 2013. Digital River’s Europe-based customers include AVAST Software, Kaspersky Lab, Logitech, Sennheiser and Spotify.

At IBM, Vergani most recently served as the vice president of European sales for the Global Process Services division. Vergani also spent five years leading IBM’s Retail Store Solutions division across EMEA.
