Besides Intel Quark and Intel Atom processors, developers and partners can chose from new Intel core based gateways.

Company officials said the Intel IoT Gateway will come with support for Snappy Ubuntu Core, including the ability to take advantage of apps available through the Canonical Snap Store.

Additionally, Intel IoT Gateways are Microsoft based and aligned with Windows 10 IoT Core and Industry. Intel and Microsoft are working together to enable Windows 10 IoT on the existing Intel Atom based Gateways.

Intel said the new IoT Gateways also offer enhanced manageability features, including Over-the-Air OS updates and rollback, to enable remote updates and services via Wind River Helix Device Cloud.

Meanwhile, there are 22 unique Intel IoT Gateway designs available from 20 Intel partner companies across industries including industrial/energy, smart building/smart home, retail, and transportation.

Companies like Vantron, Portwell, Eurotech, AAEON, Dell and many more are already using Intel IoT Gateways.
