Cognizant Technology deploys BYOD initiative

IT outsourcing vendor Cognizant Technology, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, has deployed bring your own devices (BYOD) initiative.

Cognizant, which grew its employee base to 171,400 associates from 200 in the last 20 years, is currently reaping the benefits from BYOD. During the period, Cognizant’s client base rose to 1,000 from 1.

“We have evolved our people strategy and policies to address the needs of the millennial generation by introducing a “Bring Your Own Device” policy and implementing TruMobi, our homegrown enterprise solution for mobile devices,” said Francisco D’Souza, CEO of Cognizant Technology, during an analyst call.

Cognizant Technology, which competes with Wipro, Infosys, TCS, HCL, etc, has decreased annualized attrition during the quarter, including BPO and trainees, to 14.5 percent annualized.

The company says net headcount increased by approximately 5,000 people during the quarter. 48 percent of additions for the quarter were direct college hires, while 52 percent were lateral hires of experienced professionals.

Cognizant Technology ended the quarter with approximately 171,400 employees globally, of which approximately 160,600 were service delivery staff.

“We have significantly expanded our market presence with revenue outside of North America approaching $2 billion for 2013. We strengthened our delivery footprint to include many new in-country, nearshore and global delivery centers, including Cebu in the Philippines, Dalian in China, newer centers in Germany and France through acquisitions, Tampa and College Station in the U.S. and, most recently, Costa Rica,” D’Souza added.
