Citrix XenClient offers better enterprise mobility to work across laptops, tablets and smartphones using virtual desktop – hosted or local – along with their files and documents.
The release is part of Citrix’s enterprise mobility strategy.
Citrix on Wednesday said XenDesktop with XenClient and Citrix ShareFile offer personalized virtual desktop experience and data synchronization along with the centralized control IT needs.
“With this level of integration with XenDesktop and personalization and synchronization across devices, XenClient further enables enterprises to go mobile. Users have the ability to work from any device, even offline with their laptops, and IT achieves greater security and manageability,” said Mitch Parker, vice president and general manager, Client Virtualization at Citrix.
In addition, the integration of XenClient 5 provides personalization and profile management across local and hosted virtual desktops. This will drive better adoption of desktop virtualization, a key enabler of the mobile enterprise.
IDC in a recent IT research report said by 2015 the world’s mobile worker population will reach 1.3 billion, representing approximately 37.2 percent of the total workforce.
XenClient 5 integrates Personal vDisk technology already in XenDesktop to enable personalization, and integrates with ShareFile to sync data across local and hosted virtual desktop environments.
Users will have a seamless and personalized user experience, and IT gains new levels of security, reliability and control with simplified desktop management.
Client virtualization market will grow to $4.1 billion in 2017.
XenClient 5 will be available for download from August 12 from the Citrix website.
XenClient 5 is included in XenDesktop Enterprise and Platinum editions. Customers that are current on XenDesktop Subscription Advantage can download XenClient 5 for free as a benefit of their Subscription Advantage membership.
Customers can also download XenClient Enterprise 5 and create a test environment for up to 10 users.
