Infotech Lead America: Brocade has appointed David Meyer as Service Provider business chief technology officer and chief scientist.
Prior to joining Brocade, Meyer held various positions at Cisco Systems, most recently as a Distinguished Engineer focused on examining the growing role of OpenFlow and SDN within the enterprise and service provider markets.
Meyer will be responsible for Brocade’s cloud networking, advanced routing and application delivery strategy.
“David’s leadership within various industry associations and Internet standards bodies is a testament to his ability to understand at a macro level the implications of the development and standardization of new and emerging technologies that are shaping the future direction of the networking industry,” said Ken Cheng, vice president and general manager of the Routing, Application Delivery and Software Networking Group.
Meyer will work with tier-1 service providers, cloud hosting providers and Web 2.0 content providers. As He will help customers develop cloud-optimized network architectures to support services and applications. He will actively engage in industry-wide discussions on seminal networking issues and evangelize Brocade’s unique solutions in the areas of Ethernet fabrics, advanced routing and SDN.

According to a recent IT news report in InfotechLead.com, Riverbed Technology has appointed Ian Whiting as senior vice president of sales for the Americas. Before joining Riverbed, Whiting worked with Brocade Communications as executive vice president of worldwide sales. At Riverbed, Whiting will be responsible for scaling the company’s sales channels and outreach within North and South America to meet growing customer and partner needs.
