Cisco to acquire network services management software firm SolveDirect

Infotech Lead Asia: Cisco Systems will acquire SolveDirect, a provider of network services management software.

SolveDirect helps large companies get their networks talking to those of their partners to share information they need to work together more easily.

Financial terms aren’t being disclosed.

The acquisition is vital for Cisco as the Austria-based SolveDirect will enhance Cisco’s service technology platform and allow Cisco to expand innovative service offerings.

In addition, Cisco and SolveDirect will increase the intelligence of the network, providing customers, vendors, and partners with the technology to seamlessly exchange data and work flows across a unified network.

In 2012, market research firm Gartner has added SolveDirect Service Management, a provider of cloud based  integration solutions, in the list of “Cool Vendors” in the Cool Vendors in Cloud Service Brokerage Enablers.

Founded in 2000, SolveDirect offers international companies and IT service providers a flexible way to integrate and automate its service partners, processes and service management systems. This reduces downtime and costs and increases customer satisfaction.

SolveDirect says well-defined workflows, a 360° view on service level agreements, real-time monitoring of targets as well as a flexible access to the service management platform from anywhere facilitates companies in optimizing their customer service and increase efficiency up to 50 percent.

SolveDirect claims that more than 220 customers from all industries and sizes around the world use SolveDirect solutions that connect more than 270,000 end users in 68 countries.

Combining Cisco’s existing support ecosystem of customers, partners and resellers with SolveDirect’s real-time cloud-based architecture, will help solve the need for smart and connected IT services.

Cisco says SolveDirect’s capabilities will enable Cisco to extend its portfolio of smart and connected IT services to global ecosystem of customers, partners and resellers.

The SolveDirect acquisition aligns to Cisco’s goal of developing and delivering innovative solutions that streamline data and workflows across a unified network.

The SolveDirect team will join the Cisco Services team, under the leadership of Mala Anand, senior vice president, Cisco Services Platforms Group.
