Cisco appoints new heads for sales and marketing and customer experience

Cisco technology at MWC 2017Enterprise networking company Cisco announced new management team to strengthen its focus on sales, marketing and customer experience.

Gerri Elliott, who earlier worked with IBM, Microsoft and Juniper Networks, will be the new chief sales and marketing officer of Cisco. Karen Walker will remain in her role as chief marketing officer reporting to Gerri Elliott.

Gerri Elliott, as the new chief sales and marketing officer, will align sales and marketing teams to strengthen Cisco’s go-to-market strategy and growth opportunity. She will also oversee Cisco’s brand and reputation in the market.

Maria Martinez, who earlier worked with Salesforce, will be the global networking company’s chief customer experience officer.

Cisco said Maria Martinez will help build customer loyalty and ensure customers take full advantage of Cisco’s software, services and subscription offerings.

Maria Martinez joins Cisco from Salesforce where she served as president, Salesforce Customer Success Group and Success Cloud as well as general manager, Salesforce Latin America. She has also worked with Microsoft, Motorola, AT&T and start-up company Embrace Networks.

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said: “Their vision and experience across software, networking, services and customer success are a powerful combination as we drive momentum with our customers and partners.”

Chris Dedicoat, EVP of Worldwide Sales and Field Operations, will move into an advisory role, taking on a number of strategic initiatives for Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins.

Gerri Elliott and Maria Martinez will join Cisco’s executive leadership team and serve as executive officers of Cisco.
