Baidu, the Chinese language internet search provider, has selected Seagate storage products and solutions.
Seagate will assign engineers to the company to deploy its advanced storage products. Baidu and Seagate have working together since 2014. Baidu is applying Seagate enterprise drives for its data center and public cloud platform.
Seagate will be providing double the amount of technical cooperation, and closer links to Baidu for its business needs.
“As the top AI technology enterprise with leading data center technology worldwide, Baidu attached great importance to technology and welcomes innovation and solutions with open arms,” said Zhang Yaqin, president of Baidu.
Baidu will be at the forefront of Internet users in China implementing Seagate’s storage products. They will jointly develop customized storage systems to meet Baidu business needs. They will upgrade the procurement model to save costs for each side.
The data sphere will grow to 163ZB by 2025, which is 10 times the 16.1ZB data generated in 2016. By then, nearly 20 percent of the data in the data sphere will be critical to our daily lives and nearly 10 percent of that will be hypercritical, according to IDC.
“Baidu will get support from Seagate, and we will cooperate at a deeper level to jointly develop customized high-performance products to meet Baidu’s business needs,” said BS Teh, senior vice president of global sales and sales operations at Seagate Technology.
