Axis launches Wi-Fi network camera suitable for small installations

Infotech Lead India:  Small stores, boutiques, offices and residential users often require an easy-to-install and affordable network camera solution.  Axis Communications, a provider of network video solutions, unveiled its latest offering – the AXIS M1004-W for indoor wireless surveillance. The product was designed for small installations with affordability and flexibility in mind.

The cost-efficient AXIS M1004-W Network Camera supports wireless capability as well as Axis One-Click Camera Connection. It has support for Wi-Fi Protected Setup protocol which simplifies the process of configuring logical security on wireless networks. This saves much time and helps installers or integrators easily set-up high network security in Wi-Fi areas, where installing ethernet cables is either not possible or not feasible.

Erik Frännlid, director of product management at Axis said, “AXIS M1004-W is an easy to install camera and is affordably priced, adding more flexibility and choice to the well-established AXIS M10 Series. The camera supports a push-button for easy WLAN pairing assuring user-friendliness and high network security, while enabling HDTV video to be streamed reliably over a wireless network. Small businesses and residential users will have an affordable and easy-to-use surveillance solution.”

AXIS M1004-W Network Cameras also feature support for AXIS Video Hosting System with one-click camera connection, making the cameras ideal for a hosted video solution.

The camera is supported by the Axis Application Development Partner Program, and AXIS Camera Station. It includes support for AXIS Camera Application Platform, AXIS Video Hosting System and ONVIF for camera system integration and for application developers to provide the camera with intelligent capabilities.

Other features of AXIS M1004-W are 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, progressive scan, HDTV color fidelity, full frame rate and a 16:9 format. These cameras also support multiple H.264 video streams, Axis’ Corridor Format and have input/output ports for connecting devices such as sensors and external relays to activate lights or open/close doors.

Additionally, the AXIS M1004-W provides support for Edge storage to NAS, for  Wi-Fi IEEE802.11b/g/n and for Wi-Fi Protected Setup protocol.

Priced at $199, AXIS M1004-W is expected to be available in Q2 2013 through Axis distribution channels.
