AMD reports Q3 revenue of $9.2 bn driven by strong demand for AI, server, and PC products

AMD announced financial results for the third quarter of 2025, reporting revenue of $9.2 billion, an increase of 36 percent compared to the same quarter last year. The company’s growth was driven by robust demand across its Data Center AI, Server, and PC businesses.

Segment performance

Data Center: Revenue rose 22 percent to $4.3 billion, supported by strong demand for AMD’s 5th Gen EPYC processors and Instinct MI350 Series GPUs.

Client and Gaming: Combined revenue reached $4 billion, up 73 percent. Client segment revenue was a record $2.8 billion, up 46 percent, driven by record sales of Ryzen processors. Gaming segment revenue increased 181 percent to $1.3 billion, reflecting strong semi-custom demand and higher Radeon GPU sales.

Embedded: Revenue was $857 million, down 8 percent due to softer demand in select industrial and networking markets.

Key partnerships and technology launches

AMD expanded its AI and data center leadership through new strategic partnerships and product introductions:

AMD announced a collaboration with OpenAI to deploy 6-GW of AMD GPUs, starting with a 1-GW rollout of Instinct MI450 GPUs in the second half of 2026.

AMD introduced the “Helios” rack-scale design, compatible with Meta’s Open Rack Wide specification.

AMD partnered with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to launch the first public AI supercluster using the Helios rack design, featuring 50,000 AMD Instinct MI450 GPUs and EPYC “Venice” CPUs, scheduled for deployment in Q3 2026.

AMD released ROCm 7, delivering higher training and inference performance and enhanced management tools for enterprise AI infrastructure.

AMD announced new U.S. Department of Energy supercomputing collaborations at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Product highlights

AMD continued expanding its processor portfolio with several major launches:

Ryzen Threadripper 9000WX and PRO 9000X Series processors offering industry-leading multi-core performance for creators and professionals.

ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, powered by Ryzen Z2 processors, launched globally for portable gaming.

AMD FSR 4, an AI-based upscaling technology, doubled its supported game count to more than 85.

AMD introduced Versal RF Series for aerospace and defense, Versal Premium Series Gen 2 with next-generation CXL and PCIe connectivity, and EPYC Embedded 4005 and Ryzen Embedded 9000 processors for edge and industrial applications.

“We delivered an outstanding quarter, with record revenue and profitability reflecting broad-based demand for our high-performance EPYC and Ryzen processors and Instinct AI accelerators,” said Dr. Lisa Su, AMD chair and CEO. “Our strong results and fourth quarter outlook highlight our accelerating growth in AI and compute markets.”

Outlook

AMD expects revenue of $9.6 billion as it expects momentum in its Data Center and Client businesses for the fourth quarter of 2025, supported by AI-driven demand and new product ramps. The company remains focused on scaling its compute and AI platforms to capture opportunities across cloud, enterprise, and embedded markets.
