VidyoDesktop Virtual Edition targets virtual desktop infrastructure environments

Vidyo has launched VidyoDesktop Virtual Edition (VE), a video conferencing desktop client for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments.

VidyoDesktop VE extends the scale of the Vidyo solution to Citrix virtual desktop offerings including Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp.

Earlier, Vidyo’s solutions were available for devices including desktop, mobile, web, room systems, H.323/SIP endpoints.

“Organizations that have chosen to deploy VDI for security and control purposes now have the ability to fully leverage the high-quality experience that Vidyo delivers within that environment thanks to the flexibility and scalability of the VidyoWorks platform,” said Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo CEO and co-founder.

“Applications like VidyoDesktop VE extend the value of desktop virtualization by enabling enterprise quality video, audio and content collaboration in blended mobile, thin and full client environments,” said Derek Thorslund, Director of Product Management, Citrix.

The VidyoWorks platform allows for integration of video into a variety of applications and workflows such as electronic medical records (EMRs), patient monitoring, financial trading, online banking and other vertical applications.
