Revolut to hire 3500 staff to expand digital banking presence

Digital banking app Revolut is planning to hire around 3500 staff in line with the expansion into 24 new markets, Reuters reported.
Revolut digital bankingBritain-based Revolut has more than 8 million customers. The digital banking company has around 1500 employees at present.

Revolut has a new agreement with Visa to expand its presence in eight countries including Brazil, Japan, Russia and the United States by the end of this year – in addition to current markets of Europe and Australia.

Revolut CEO and founder Nikolay Storonsky said the company will launch in other Latin American and Asian markets next year.

“We are around 1500 people now and by summer next year we plan to be around 5000,” he said.

The deal will see at least 75 percent of all Revolut cards carry Visa branding rather than that of rivals such as Mastercard.

The global push could see Revolut double or triple its customers in the next year, Storonsky said.

Revolut’s average customer holds around 1000 euros in their account, giving a total deposit balance of $8.74 billion currently, a minnow compared to global banking giants like HSBC and JPMorgan with trillion-dollar-plus deposit totals.
